

John R. Blakemore has been practicing in North Olmsted, Ohio for over 30 years. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University of Chicago and went on to teach high school biology for one year. At that time, Dr. Blakemore entered Case Western Reserve University Dental School where he subsequently earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. Following completion of this degree, Dr. Blakemore received four years of specialty training in oral surgery at the University Hospitals in Cleveland. His extensive training included anesthesia, and all phases of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He has been board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
As an Associate Clinical Professor at University Hospitals of Cleveland and at Case Western Reserve Dental School, Dr. Blakemore teaches implantology, oral surgery and anesthesia to the residents. He is also on the medical staff at University Hospitals, Fairview Hospital, and The Surgery Center. Along with serving on the medical staff, he also holds the position of Chief of Oral Surgery at St. John West Shore Hospital. To promote his keen interest in implant surgery, Dr. Blakemore created an Implant Study Club that meets six times per year.
Dr. Blakemore eagerly fulfills his established role as a leader in dentistry. As such, he serves as a member of the following professional organizations:
Dedicated to honing and augmenting his clinical skill and knowledge, Dr. Blakemore regularly attends continuing education courses. He has a strong interest in the different types of implants and their specific uses and is also actively involved in bone grafting, including sinus grafting and onlay cortical bone grafts.
Staying active in his community is important to Dr. Blakemore. He is a coach for the boys’ youth wrestling team, and supports multiple school activities in the local communities.
Dr. Blakemore is a native of Cleveland, where he is remembered in the V.A. St. Joseph High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He resides in Westlake with his wife, Renie, and together they have raised nine children, and currently have thirteen grandchildren. Dr. Blakemore’s vigorous lifestyle includes biking, swimming, mountain climbing, running and kayaking. He is competitive in all these sports and has won multiple awards. He also enjoys music, bird watching, gardening, and especially raising his prize-winning dahlias.
